Broad Energy (Wales) Limited is preparing a planning application for an Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) on land at Buttington Quarry, located approximately 3 miles (5km) north east of Welshpool.
The Buttington ERF will use thermal treatment technology to generate renewable and low carbon energy in the form of electricity and heat. This electricity can then be exported to the national grid to help provide greater security over supplies, whilst the heat can supply local businesses and new developments (including homes).
This development will use non-recyclable (residual) waste as a fuel, helping to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Broad Energy (Wales) Limited is now planning to launch pre-application consultation on the final plans for the ERF. This consultation is part of the statutory Development of National Significance (DNS) consultation process.
All details of the pre-application consultation will be posted online, advertised in the local media, and a newsletter will be sent to homes and businesses in the wider Buttington area.Find out more
